Wednesday: Listening for the Lord

“I will stand at my watch and station myself on the ramparts; I will look to see what he will say to me, and what answer I am to give to this complaint” Habakkuk 2:1
In this verse, we see the prophet Habakkuk claim his position within a defensive location.
Next, however, it tells us that he is there to watch for the Lord to speak.
The two things might seem unrelated at first glance, but through a Spiritual lens, stationing and listening have a strong correlation!
When Habakkuk stationed himself upon the ramparts, he stood in a position to watch, listen, and defend.
Similarly, when we station ourselves to listen to the Lord’s leading, we find ourselves within a position to watch, listen, defend, and grow.
This leads into the question: Do you have a station, void of distractions, where you meet with the Lord?
This station is simply a location where God’s presence is invited to dwell with increased potency for the purpose of prayer, worship, and listening to the Lord. Now, it is rather clear that Habakkuk was stationing himself defensively against something. In his case, it was Judah’s wicked rebellion from God. He stood on his rampart, both in the quiet to listen, and in defence to protect and proclaim. In our case, these stations have many simultaneous uses!
These quiet, private locations allow us to abide in God's presence, speak with Him, listen to His leading, fight and defend by interceding in prayer, and build our relationship with God as His sons and daughters! As you learn and grow in the pursuit of your Godly vision, find a quiet, secluded place where you can station yourself to truly listen for the Lord. Ask Him to alert your heart to His voice and let the truth of His Word lead you. Your station might seem like a quiet, secluded place, but in reality, it is the strongest tower of all. Our God chooses to have a deep, personal relationship with us. Finding a quiet place to tap into time with Him is invaluable! You can invite God to be magnified in any place.
I encourage you to pray this prayer over your home, your station, and yourself:

Dear God,
I surrender this place to You. Let Your presence be magnified here, and let me encounter You. Lord, from boundary line to boundary line, this place belongs to You, and I welcome Your Spirit to fully reign here. Let this be a place of worship and prayer, where my relationship with You grows. I pray that nothing of the enemy can enter this place and that You stand as its guard. Please reveal Your vision to me clearly, so I may stay in step with Your will for me in Your kingdom. Please fill my heart with Your Holy Spirit and let Your Spirit rest upon me and overflow out to others. All that I have, God, I surrender to You. It’s in the Holy name of your Son, Jesus, that I pray,
