Wednesday: Trust in His Timing

Then the LORD replied: ‘Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay. Habakkuk 2:2-3
When we receive visions and promptings from the Lord, it is easy to get caught up in one recurring question: What's the timing? Universally, surrendering to God’s timing requires tremendous faith. You're not alone if you feel like waiting is the hardest part. Whether it’s out of excitement, desperation, or nervousness, it’s difficult for us to lean into patience.
Even the prophet Habakkuk struggled with waiting. In fact, the man was so eager to see God bring a restoration of righteousness to Judah that his book actually begins with the words, “How long, LORD” (Habakkuk 1:2). God doesn’t need to bring us into His visions, but He desires to have a personal relationship with us and to allow us to partner with Him on Kingdom assignments. Just think about it! When God gives us our visions, He chooses to bring us into the preparatory phase of His plan!
Waiting may seem like the long, dreaded time in between plan and purpose, but, in reality, it’s a Father-child step of preparation, growth, and praise. Wait on the Lord’s timing for the visions He has given us. We can spend time resting in the great promise about God’s plans, which reads,
“As the rain and snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it” (Isaiah 55:10-11).
God’s promises will not return to Him void. We have the opportunity to use times of waiting as training ground, where we wrestle our flesh and choose to have faith over fear, surrender over instant satisfaction, and confidence in our Heavenly Father over a false perception of control.
In what areas of my life and vision do I need to surrender timing to the Lord?
How can I be preparing for my calling with the Lord right now?
How can I praise God through the waiting?
How can I remind myself in moments of doubt that God is in control and has joyfully chosen to get every piece of His plan together with me?

Lord,
May we be reminded of the truth of God’s character today and put You in Your rightful place: You are the One who initiates, sustains, and fulfills. You are in full control and authority. You know all things, see all things, hear all things. Nothing is hidden from Your sight. You are faithful. You are purposeful in Your timing … in the planting, tending, and harvesting seasons. Lord, I lift up the one who needs encouragement today: the one who is exhausted, alone, and filled with doubt. Would You come tenderly, Holy Spirit, and bring about a calm and peace to this weary soul? May he/she experience You in a fresh new wind to continue the path You have set before him/her. In all things, I will praise You and give You glory and honor. Lord, I know You are interceding on my behalf before the Father. In Jesus’ Name,
