Monday: Thank Him & Ask for His Help

“Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it. For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.” Habakkuk 2:2–3
You’ve made room. You’ve sought Him. You’ve listened. And now, maybe God has begun to place a vision on your heart
– a dream bigger than what you could accomplish on your own. So, what do you do next?
Before you run after what God has shown you, turn back toward the One who showed it to you.
Thank Him.
There is something powerful about thanking God before we ever see the outcome. We can thank Him simply because He spoke. Thank Him for inviting us into His plans. Thank Him for trusting us with an assignment. Thank Him for the ways He has already been faithful – and for the ways we can trust He will be faithful again.
But then comes the part I’m learning not to skip:
Ask Him for help.
It can be so easy to seek God for direction and then, once we think we know where He’s leading, slip right back into self-sufficiency: “Thanks, God. I’ve got it from here.”
But a God-sized dream requires God-sized dependence. That’s part of what makes it God-sized. If God has placed something on our hearts that requires more courage, resources, wisdom, ability, or opportunity than we currently possess, our need for Him isn’t evidence that we’re unprepared for the vision. It is part of the design.
God never asked us to receive His vision and then manufacture its fulfillment in our own strength.
Philippians 4:19 reminds us, “And my God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”
The size of our need isn’t measured against the size of our resources. It’s measured against His.
God is the One who provides. He opens doors we cannot open. He brings people we could never orchestrate.
He gives wisdom when we don’t know what to do, courage when the next step feels scary, and strength when what He has called us toward feels bigger than us.
Our job is not to have everything necessary for the entire journey before we begin.
Our job is to faithfully take the next step He gives us – and trust Him to provide what we need along the way.
And Habakkuk reminds us that the vision “awaits an appointed time.”
We may not know how God will accomplish it or when we will see it fulfilled. But we know the character of the One who gave it.
So before you run, thank Him. And as you run, keep asking for His help.
The God who gives the vision is the same God who will faithfully equip you to pursue it.

Father,
Thank You for speaking, for allowing me to be part of what You are doing, and for every vision and dream You place on my heart. Thank You for the ways You have already provided and for Your promise to supply all that I need according to Your riches in Christ Jesus. I surrender this vision back to You. Protect me from taking what You have shown me and trying to accomplish it in my own strength. Give me the wisdom, courage, resources, relationships, and opportunities I need to faithfully take the next step. When the vision feels bigger than me, remind me that it was never meant to depend on me alone. Help me run faithfully toward what You have shown me while trusting You with how and when it comes to pass. May every dream You fulfill through my life ultimately point back to You and bring You glory.
