I will climb up to my watchtower
    and stand at my guardpost.
There I will wait to see what the Lord says
    and how he will answer my complaint.
The Lord’s Second Reply
Then the Lord said to me,
“Write my answer plainly on tablets,
    so that a runner can carry the correct message to others.
This vision is for a future time.
    It describes the end, and it will be fulfilled.
If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently,
    for it will surely take place.
    It will not be delayed.
Habbakuk 2:1-3 NLT


As we have taken time to ponder this passage of scripture and allowed it to be
a framework to guide us for these 21 days to discover our guardpost, to seek God and wait for response,
we come to the last action item. "Write my answer plainly on tablets, so that a runner can carry the correct message to others." 
He then goes on to speak about how this vision is for a future time and that in God's timing we will see it come to fruition. 

When we think about how God told them to write it down in stone,
it wasn't just an archaic method because they didn't have paper easily accessible,
but because what He was telling them was monumental and something they needed to remember.
There are a few symbolic meanings to why God said to write it in stone.

Reason One - Permanence and Certainty:
Recording the message on stone or clay tablets showed that God's promise of judgment and justice was fixed and certain to happen.  

Reason Two - Readability and Urgency: 
The writing had to be large and plain so a messenger or anyone passing by could read it quickly and run to share the news.

Reason Three - Public Witness:
The tablets were meant to be displayed publicly so people could read the truth about God's coming judgment instead of relying on memory.

Today's devotional is simple, write down what you feel the Lord has spoken to you over the past 21 days.
The story is the same today as it was then, God wants you to remember what He is calling you to.

What has He called you to lay down or pick up?

What vision has He given you for what He has for you specifically?

Write it down.

Heavenly Father,
I thank You so much for our time together during these 21 days.
I thank You for the vision that You have given me, to write down, to remember, and to live our for Your glory.
I pray for Your strength and sustainment to live out this vision and see it to fruition in Your timing.
I pray to have Your kind of faithfulness and patience as I wait to see Your will be fufilled.
I love You Lord and I thank You again for Your wisdom and vision and to be called by You to live out my God-given purpose
and further Your kingdom. May I never forget what You have spoken.
